Eric AllenEric M. Allen
Band Director

Eric M. Allen attended the Florida State University School of Music where he received the Bachelor of Music Education Degree and the Master of Music Education Degree. He is currently the Director of Bands at Sebastian River High School where he directs the Marching Sharks and conducts the Wind Symphony. Mr. Allen is also the Countywide Coordinator of Bands and oversees all of the band programs in North Indian River County.

Under his direction, the Marching Sharks have received Straight Superior Ratings at all Florida Bandmasters Association Events as well as Grand Champion awards at the Crown Jewel Marching Festival in Vero Beach, the First Coast Classic Band Festival in Jacksonville, The Pride of Florida Band Festival in Cape Coral, the Lion's Pride Band Festival in Tampa, 2006 Grand Champion “Battle on the Border” Valdosta, Georgia and the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia. The Wind Symphony has received Superior ratings at the State Band Assessment for the past seven years and has performed at the Stetson University Concert Band Invitational, the University of Florida Concert Band Invitational, the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis, and the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.

Mr. Allen actively guest conducts bands along the Treasure Coast. He was featured as the Florida Designee in the 2002 School Band and Orchestra Magazine “50 Directors that Make a Difference” issue and received a Citation of Excellence from the National Band Association in 2003. Mr. Allen was also recently named “Teacher of the Year” at Sebastian River High School and is the 2006 Indian River County Teacher of the Year.

Joel PaganJoel Pagan
Associate Band Director

Joel Pagan attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education. At WCU he was a member of the concert band, wind ensemble, jazz band, trumpet ensemble, concert choir and early music vocal ensemble. Mr. Pagan served as an assistant conductor to the WCU Trumpet Ensemble and as a staff coordinator for the WCU Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. Joel Pagan received his Master of Music Education Degree from the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. He previously was the director of bands at LaBelle High School in LaBelle, FL and Ida S. Baker High School in Cape Coral, FL. Mr. Pagan holds professional memberships in the Music Educators National Conference, Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, and Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society. He also served as the District 18 Chairman for the Florida Bandmasters Association.

Jessica KeatonJessica Keaton

Mrs. Jessica Keaton has resided in the Sebastian area for 28 years. She has been involved in gymnastics, dance, aerobics, Arial Antics, and color guard for over 27 years. Her experiences with these varieties of skills allow our color guard to be very versatile in their technique.

Mrs. Keaton attended Vero Beach High School and received her B.A. degree from Florida Atlantic University. She recently received her Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. She has been the color guard instructor at Sebastian River High for twelve years. Mrs. Keaton is also the Team Leader for the B.E.S.T. Academy where she enjoys teaching American Government, American History and World History.

Mrs. Keaton is also the proud mother of 5 year old Kameron, 2 year old Karissa and 5 month old Kalena and has been married to her very supportive husband Ken for seven years.

She is ecstatic about the upcoming events and is anticipating a successful year with the color guard. In addition, she would like to emphasize her gratitude to our community for the fabulous support and enthusiasm they provide for our Fine Arts Programs and our school.

Emily AllenEmily Allen

Emily Allen has been a Marching Instructor for the Sebastian River High School Marching Band for the past 6 years. Mrs. Allen received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Florida State University. While at FSU she was a clarinet player in the Marching Chiefs for 4 years and served as a row leader and drill assistant. Mrs. Allen has her teaching certification in Pre-K/Primary Education and taught Pre-K at Sebastian Elementary for 5 years.
